Will of Thomas Stringer of Hymsworth, gentleman. 5 Mar 1630.He bequeaths to the poor of Norton 40s. Recites a deed of 12th October 1624 conveying his estate to trustees to the use of himself and his wife for their lives and then to the uses of his will, and states these: to his wife the Helclough, the residue of his lands and houses in Norton and Hymsworth to Robert More, son of his brother, George More of Grenill. To his wife 2 cottages in Tydsoll, 40s. each to his brothers Francis and George, and his cousins Thomas, George and Francis Stringer, and monetary bequests to Julyon More, wife of Nicholas Clarke of Chastefeld, and servants, the residue of his goods to his wife who is to be sole executrix. 26th November, 1628. Notes: Sheffield Archives hold details of family deeds of the Rogers of Netherthorpe Hall or Grange, part of The Shireoaks Estate which includes Settlement of the estate on the marriage of Francis Rogers and Elizabeth, daughter of Mary Stringer of Whiston, 1667; deed securing £15 p.a. to Elizabeth out of Netherthorpe Hall, 1702; deeds conveying or mortgaging some of the property, including Smithies Farm, to Thomas Hewett, 1700-08.
Also - An agreement, with the marriage settlement, by which Francis Stringer agrees to convey Newhall Grange to Thomas Stringer as security for a debt of £1500, by reason of 'these lait tymes'. 31st March, 1650.

Anne Stringer married John Fitzwilliam, Earl Fitzwilliam 2nd in 1718. She was the only daughter and heir of John Stringer, esq., and granddaughter and heir of Francis Stringer, esq

Catherine(d1729-30) daughter of Thomas Stringer of Sharlston married Thomas Fane 6th Earl of Westmorland

See also Robert of Guilthwaite had the guardianship of Thomas, son of Thomas Stringer of Whiston, to which he was appointed on 9th March, 1587-8. Thomas Stringer, the elder, was employed by The Earl of Shrewsbury in the management of their estates.
