Marketing and Promotion
"Word of mouth" referrals from satisfied customers is often the best form of advertising - and the least costly. Always leave a business card with each customer and consider promotional gifts for example, having some mouse mats, pens, fridge magnets, calendars, keyrings made with your logo. Some of the following will not be appropriate to you, but consider :
- National newspapers and magazines relating to your business
- Local Newspaper - Ask about special features and free editorials. You might also be able to get a place in a special section or feature at a preferential rate.
- Local radio
- Corner Shop Window
- Supermarket Noticeboard
- Church Magazine
- Playgroups , leaflet for Notice Board.
- Trade journals
- Add a website link to local business directories who offer free listings.
- Exhibitions and trade shows
- Posters and leaflets . Here is an example of 'How to write your advertisment'. We can do this for you.
- Consider joining your local Chamber of Trade
- Telesales - doesnt have to be a big operation, be selective and aware of the rules.
Advertising on the Internet
- Be creative - are you able to dream up concepts which will generate traffic and interest. The more creative an idea, the more traffic it will generate.
- Join a Newsgroup or Forum. We don't advise actively promoting your site, however there is nothing wrong in having your URL as part of your signature.
- Promote the opening of your Website by promising 'give-aways' maybe to the first 10 visitors. Make consumers want to visit your site by using a domain name that is easy to recall, use in your leaflets etc.
- Look up information from Internet Survey Sites
- Consider Banner ads and Link ads, and target your intended audience.
We are happy to advise on any of the above examples.
