Extracts for 'Holidays At Home - 1942'
Punch & Judy Shows presented by Professor De Lyle made appearances at Clifton Park, Masborough Recreational Grounds, Bradgate Park, Greasborough Park, Boston Park, Rotherham Hospital, Scholes, War-time Nursery on Moorgate, Oakwood Sanitorium & Thornhill Recreation Grounds.
Several colliery bands entertained the public beginning with the Silverwood Colliery Band at the Bandstand, Clifton Park on Sunday, July 26th, 1942.
Several military bands made an appearance too:
- Band of the Royal Army Ordance Corps
- Band of H.M. Grenadier Guards
- The Drums & Pipers of the Holding Battalion H.M. Scots Guards
- Band of H.M. Irish Guards
There was a GRAND SUNDAY EVENING CONCERT on Sunday, 16th August, 1942 with The R.A.F,'s No. 1 Dance and Light Orchestral Band THE SQUADRONAIRES
On most Friday evenings there was Open Air Dancing at the Bandstand to the music the NEW CORONA DANCE BAND. The M.C was Harry Buchanan
