History of Rotherham

The Fee of Hallamshire

The Hallamshire fee was chiefly formed of lands once held by Earl Waltheof and the Countess Judith his wife, niece of the Conqueror. In the time of Henry I Hallamshire was held by David of Scotland ; later the Luvetots, who had probably been undertenants, and the Furnivals held it.
