John Parker born 1746 married in 1771 to Alice MARSHALL (b.1750) daughter and heir of Hugh Marshall of Leeds.
John Parker of Woodthorpe was appointed Steward of the Manor of Sheffield on 4 Mar 1761 by the Duke of Norfolk, and he was appointed Steward of Manor of Aston and Wales on 30 July 1768, by Robert Darcy, Earl of Holderness. In 1772 he was Steward to Manor of Worksop
Hugh PARKER was born on 11 Sep 1772 at Woodthorpe, the second child of John and Alice (Nee Marshall), he married 20 Sep 1798 at Eastwood, Rotherham to Mary WALKER (1775-1869) daughter of Samuel and Sarah (Nee Nutt) Walker. At some stage they moved to Tickhill, Hugh was by now a J.P.He died in 1861. Children all born Woodthorpe:
Their eldest son, John Parker (1799-1881),was a politician, educated at Repton School. He graduated from Oxford with a B.A. in 1820, and M.A. in 1823. He was called to the bar at Lincoln's Inn on 1 July 1824, and went on the northern circuit. Parker was whig MP for Sheffield from December 1832 until July 1852, when he was defeated by J. A. Roebuck and George Hadfield. He served as a lord of the Treasury from 18 July 1837 to 23 June 1841, as Chief Secretary of the Admiralty from 9 June 1841 to 10 September 1841, as joint secretary of the Treasury from 7 July 1846 to 22 May 1849, and again as secretary of the Admiralty from 21 May 1849 to 3 March 1852. He was sworn of the privy council in 1854.In March 1861 the Duke of Norfolk appointed him Steward of Manor of Sheffield.
He married, on 8 February 1853, Charlotte Eliza, the second daughter of George Vernon of Clontarf Castle, Dublin. He died at his home, 71 Onslow Square, London, on 5 September 1881, and was buried at Healaugh, near Tadcaster. His wife survived him.
Margaret Caroline Parker, married Charles Jackson(18091882), the antiquary, from Doncaster. They had four sons and four daughters. She died at Buxton in 1894.
