Gamaliel Milner was born at Burton Grange, Monk Bretton in 1620. He married Ellen (Nee Farrer) and they had 9 children including:

After the death of his first wife, Gamaliel Milner married on 6 Dec.1659 to Isabel Jenkinson. They had 3 children:

An entry in suggests Ellen was instrumental in establishing the Quaker Burial Ground at Monk Bretton, and also one of the first to be buried there, following her death shortly after the birth of her ninth child in 1657.

In Barnsley Chapel are memorials : Here was interred the body of Catty, the daughter of John and Ellen Deykin; she departed this life the 6th of April, 1730, aged 14 months. Here was also interred the body of Ellen, the daughter of John and Ellen Deykin ; she departed this life on the 17th day of May, Anno Domini 1733, aged 1 year and 3 months. To the Memory of John Deykin, Esqr. who departed this life the 25 March, 1788, aged 58 yrs

William Pashley Milner

Dykes Hall, rebuilt by John Fowler, in 1852 was the residence of William Pashley Milner, of the ancient family of Milner, of Burton Grange, Thurlstone and Attercliffe

He was nephew and mentioned in the will of John Milner, of Attercliffe, died 22 May 1861.

Mr. Milner, a solicitor married in Oct. 1852, to Susan Aldam, daughter of William Aldam, of Warmsworth, and sister of William Aldam, of Frickley Hall, Doncaster; their son William Aldam Milner, was born March 25th, 1854. William Pashley Milner died at Norton about 1884.

He entered into a partnership with James Pashley Burbeary and William Smith at Sheffield

William Aldam Milner (1876-1914) and Sarah Elizabeth Milner, of Totley Hall and Titheacre, Baslow, Bakewell, Derbyshire had a son Roy Denzil Pashley Milner who was a Second Lieutenant with Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment), he died age 21 on 20/09/1914. Read More
