James Machon of Machon Bank died in the time of Elizabeth, leaving eight daughters, his co-heirs, one of whom married a Genn of Hullock in Holmfirth.

The third John Machon was one of the assistant ministers of Sheffield from 1596. He left Sheffield about 1605 for a benefice in Warwickshire.

His daughter Anne was baptised at Sheffield on the 2nd March, 1599. His wife the widow of a Storth.

In 1593 a Thomas Archdale of Stumperlowe, Sheffield, and his wife surrendered lands there to William Topham, who surrendered them to Thomas Machon also of Stumperlow.
