Newbold,Newbould Family
Thomas Newbould, a shearsmith became Master Cutler in 1751. His son Samuel was Master Cutler in 1800. The firm of Samuel Newbould & Co of Coalpit Lane, Sheffield was established about 1735 by Thomas Newbould.
Newbould, Ridge and Wild, saw and fender manufacturers, formed a partnership in 1791 - Samuel Newbould of Little Sheffield, edge tool maker, Joseph Ridge of Upper Hallam, Sheffield sawmaker, Arnold Wild of Greystones. By 1793 they were all of Little Sheffield, saw and fender manufacturers. In 1801 the partnership was dissolved and Samuel Newbould bought the premises and that same year the company was merged with Sanderson Brothers Steel Co.

He bequeaths a messuage etc. in Dinnington to his cousin, William Jessop. He bequeaths to his friends, Robert Jessop of Waterthorpe, Samuel Trickett of Throapam and Samuel Dawson of Sheffield, a messuage in Thurgoland, closes and tithes, on trust for sale. He bequeaths to them also all his freehold property in Hackenthorpe and copyhold property in the manor of Bolsover in trust for Thomas, son of William Jessop, but charged with a payment for Elizabeth, sister of Thomas. James Rangeley and Mary Newbould (1781-1855) went to the States in 1823, they stayed initially in New York and then in a house in Portland, Maine that was owned by one of Mary's brothers
