Settlement 4 Apr 1685
Barbara Lister, widow of Thomas Lister late of Bawtry, esquire, deceased, to John Lister, son and heir of Thomas and Barbara. That she will stand and be seized of a messuage in Bawtry called The Crown Inne occupied by William Partridge with several cottages (tenants named) and lands in the fields late of Roland Cotten, a wood in Corringham (co. Lincs.) called St. John's Wood or Temple Wood, and 2 closes of meadow called Paddocks adjoining Thonock in the parish of Ganesborough (co. Lincs.). To the use of Barbara Lister for her life and then to John Lister for his life with remainder to Thomas Lister, his eldest son, and his heirs male, remainder to John Lister, second son of John Lister the father, and his heirs male, remainder to the heirs of John Lister the father in tail male, remainder to the male heirs of Thomas Lister, husband of Barbara, and final remainder to the right heirs of John Lister, the father. Certain powers of limitation reserved to Barbara Lister. In consideration of her love and affection for her son, John, and for the better preferment and advancement of her grandsons, Thomas and John Lister.

Barbara Lister, widow of Thomas Lister late of Bawtry, esquire, deceased, declares that she will stand and be seized of 3 sums owing on bonds to the estate of her late husband on trust to the following uses: 1/3 to the use of Phillip Lister, 1/3 to the use of Thomas Lister, (Phillip and Thomas being younger sons of Thomas Lister, deceased) and 1/3 to the use of the said Barbara as executrix of Hugh Lister, deceased, (another son of Thomas, deceased). The debts owing are £515 from Thomas Cox late of London, doctor of physick, and Thomas Cox, his son and heir, £300 from Philip Warwick, esquire, deceased, and £200 from Thomas Davile of Kirby, esquire, deceased.

Philip Lister, second son of Thomas Lister late of Bawtry, esquire, deceased, to his mother, Barbara Lister, sole executrix of his father's will. The deed recites that Philip Lister is due £2,029 out of his father's personal estate from debts of Sir Robert Vyner and Alderman Backwell, and that his mother has assigned to him £2,029 in other debts and securities for which he discharges her, but reserving his share of the aforementioned debts.

Thomas Lister, 3rd son of Thomas Lister late of Bawtry, esquire, deceased, to his mother, Barbara Lister. He acquits her of £1,798 due to him under his father's will, as he has accepted various debts and securities to cover the sum; but he reserves his share of a debt of £2,200 owed by Sir Robert Viner and a debt of £950 owed by Alderman Backwell.
