Drabble of Harthill
The family were in Letwell as early as 1602 when Richard Drabble m. Ursula Snidall. In the early 1800s James Drabble moved from Letwell to Carlton-in-Lindrick to start up a joinery business. In 1862 Bernard Drabble is in Letwell. Refer to Drabble of Throapham and Letwell
In 1603 Grace Drabble of Harthill married at Harthill to Thomas Gelsthorpe of Whatton, Notts.

William Drabble(1805/6-1881), Cordwainer, married on 01 Mar 1831 at Rotherham, to Mary GRANT (1814-1890), daughter of John GRANT and Ann (Nee PEAT). Children, all born Harthill:

- John Drabble c.14 07 1833, stonemason of Mosborough, son William c.06 05 1860. In 1881 a Master Builder living at Sheffield Rd, Eckington with wife Elizabeth R. and 9 children. Refer to William Drabble & Sons Ltd. 1873-1979
- George Drabble c.22.3.1835 buried 19 09 1885. In 1881 living with wife Sarah and 7 children at 22 Hope St, Sheffield
- James Drabble c.07 05 1837. In 1851 apprentice painter living with uncle Robert at Broad St, Nottingham
- William Drabble c.20 01 1839, Shoemaker and village sexton married 26 04 1864 to Anna Webster, daughter of James. Children (in 1881) George b.1867, Frank b.1870, Florence b.1873, Mary b.1880
- Betsey Drabble (1841-1919) c.11 04 1841, Married 19 05 1864 to Thomas Capstick, son of Edmund, at Harthill
- Joseph Drabble (1843-1925) c.25 06 1843 m. Sarah Ann (1839-1911) from Nottingham, in 1881 farming 14 acres of land at Harthill

- Fredrick Drabble c.02 05 1847 died 19 11 1849
- Thomas, Bootmaker, c.13 08 1854 m. in 1891 at Thorpe Salvin to Mary (Nee Platts, dau. of John of Kiveton Park), daughter Mary Elsie died May 11th 1900, aged 8. Thomas died 1931 aged 76, Mary, his wife buried 23 06 1913 aged 60
- Eliza c.20 10 1856. In 1881 a teacher living at Anston with the family of James Turner, Lime & Stone Merchant & Farmer
- Emma c.20 03 1859, in 1881 still at home with mother, unmarried, buried 10 02 1894

James Drabble (c.1837) married twice. He m. Ann Maria Caunt in Nottingham June 1858. Children:
