Pedigree of Adams of Scawsby Doncaster

In the 17th century, the Adams family held the manor of Owston. In 1698, Henry Cooke bought the manor from John Adams. The Adams family had held the manor and estate for over a century, but the sale of the estate was necessary to settle their debts.

In 1600, Philip Adams of Owston married Gertrude Bosvile, of Warmsworth at Warmsworth.

Jane Adams, born about 1600, the daughter of Philip Adams of Owston married Thomas Young, of St. Michael-le-Belfrey, York in 1624. He was the son of Sir George, and grandson of Thomas Young, Archbishop of York

Mary Adams, second daughter of Philip Adams, of Owston, baptised on 20th January, 1602 married Christopher Wormeley Junior Gent., of St. Mary's, Bishophill, on 5th August, 1619.
