Apparently, there are several local legends concerning ghosts, tunnels to other buildings, and even a lost wishing well; I cannot find any reference !

Situated in a misty valley alongside Maltby Beck and King's Wood, there is a small visitors' centre in the grounds, the access road to the Abbey lies about 1.5 miles beyond Maltby, along Blyth Road.(A634)
