Training Academy

An Aviation Academy, a partnership between Doncaster College and North Nottinghamshire College, set up by Yorkshire Forward, who are investing over £6m into the creation of the academy, and developed by Directions Finningley, will provide new training opportunities in aviation skills at Robin Hood Airport.

The Academy sited in a 55,000 square foot hangar close to the runway and the terminal building, will house specialised engineering and aviation equipment which will include working aircraft, and will be the first of its kind in the country to offer such a wide range of training and employer support in a working airport environment.

A Boeing 727 fuselage, previously used by Iberian Airways has undergone major refurbishment to enable it to be used for training purposes. People wanting to develop their knowledge and skills can do so by using real working aviation equipment.

Directions Finningley, a training, career development and business support service, based at the Airport, was designed to help local people into aviation jobs.
