West Bar, Sheffield, February 2007

This archeaological dig was situated on the left hand side going from West Bar up to Jessop hospital. The person who was digging told the photographer that it was the remains of old back to back terraced houses and an old pub which used to be situated on the corner. It had been covered up since the 1950's when it was all pulled down.

You can see the old cellar which still has its old stone slabs in the floor with ridges in to stop people slipping in the cellar also there are two pieces of timber in there which were used to roll the barrels down into the cellar. You can still see nails stuck out of the timber as every now and then, timber was fastened to these so it would have looked a bit like a ladder.
