Park up the car and get a flavour of the place at the Visitor's Centre - buy a few souvenirs such as dinosaur note pads and caveman pencils. Then it's a steady stroll through pleasant woodland to the gorge and it's remarkable views.

And best of all it's all free. They do ask for a £2 donation for using the car park but it is optional.

To get a real feel for the place and to read more about the history of the area take a look at the website - Virtually the Ice Age.
