Clifton Park area
Clifton Park and House were purchased by the Corporation in 1891 for £25000. The park is a finely timbered piece of land of about 55 acres. It was opened on 22nd June, 1891 by King Edward VII, then Prince of Wales. The lake was enlarged and grounds laid out at a cost of £5000. Henry Albiston was curator in 1911.
