Weekly Waste Collection and Recycling
We at Rotherham Web would like to bring the Campaign for Weekly Waste Collection to our reader's attention. We don't want to be directly involved in political issues but then again we don't fancy a possible plague of rats or a terrible stench around our estates.
This online Campaign was set up in August 2004 specifically to inform residents and to invite them to join the campaign in their aim to ask the Government to introduce legislation for a weekly collection of general waste for all households in the UK. We support recycling, but the summer months with waste collected only once a fortnight can cause some unpleasant and, they believe, potentially harmful effects.
At least 11 councils have reverted to weekly collections of general waste and they hope more will follow.
If you are unhappy that general waste collections are only once a fortnight join the campaign (free) at www.weeklywaste.com.
