Nice Dogs looking for FOREVER HOMES

People often say to us “How can you do it?”, “I couldn’t go into the dog pound and choose which dogs can live, and which have to be put to sleep” We know we just have to. Too many people breed dogs that don’t have a home waiting for them. Staffordshire Bull Terriers, and Staffy mixes, are put to sleep throughout the country because there aren’t enough homes for this great little dog. Please, don’t let your bitch have puppies - its not necessary - get her spayed, stop the heartbreak every Tuesday – when these poor little things are no longer wanted – and put to sleep – on their own – unloved and no-one to cry for them but us.

There is just 1 dog warden to cover the whole of Rotherham. That warden is on duty Monday to Friday 9.00 - 5.00. The police currently cover the out of hours, but that is going to stop soon, and the councils will have to cover it. Can you image what that means when there are dogs left to roam – usually at night, hit by cars, scared, lost.

Many of you know someone who has lost a dog or who has found a dog out of these times. What do you do? Please, write to your MP. Tell him you are concerned about the plight of dogs in our area. And more should be done to educate the public on pet care and ownership.

Did you know that stray Rotherham Dogs are taken to Mount Pleasant Kennels, Hampole, Doncaster? These are the only stray kennels for Rotherham. If you loose a dog keep phoning them. With over 100 dogs in at any one time – many look the same. Go over there, and check - dogs are scared and frightened and often run over. Don’t let them roam and ensure they are microchipped.
