New Agency Brings Exceptional and Innovative Live Music to the North
A new Rotherham based specialist music agency, Murmur Music, is due to launch this month and is bringing some exceptional acts to the Rotherham Open Arts Festival.
The agency brings its prowess for exceptional and innovative live music to the North, providing and promoting the finest professional musicians and ensembles from the Jazz, Classical, World, Folk and Popular music idioms.
They aim to highlight this pedigree in providing two exceptional live acts for the Rotherham Open Arts Festival – opening the festival with the fantastic Mini Big Band (Friday 17th September 2010) and closing the festival with Double BBC Jazz Award Winner Liane Carroll (Sat 25th September 2010).
Murmur Music is the creation of twin brothers, Jonathan and Chris Hibbard, who both work as professional musicians and regularly perform with some of the top musicians and ensembles in the country, both in the UK and Europe.
They also run and perform with the highly sought-after swing band The Mini Big Band.
Having performed at the Rotherham Open Arts Festival last year the young 10 piece big band have been brought back by popular demand to bring their youthful take on super cool swing and jumpin jive standards to Rotherham. Paying homage to the likes of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Michael Buble, and Louis Prima the band are sure to bring a touch of Vegas to Town.
Having picked up just about every British Jazz award going in the last few years, including the 2008 Parliamentary Jazz Award for 'Musician Of The Year', Liane Carroll has been hailed by critics and fans alike as one of our very finest jazz singers.
Possessed of a huge vocal range, a prodigious musicality and an unerring sense of musical honesty, her live set is one of the most emotionally exciting to be found on the UK jazz circuit and covers a broad repertoire from the contemplative Tom Waits and Lauro Nyro, through to familiar jazz standards, as well as Liane's self-penned original material.
Murmur Music has a strong connection with the music scene in the North of England and provides access to some of the UK's finest professional musicians and breaking new talent from the area. They are extremly proud to be bring acts of such esteemed quality to the Rotherham Open Arts Festival.
