Paint the Town Yellow for Marie Curie Cancer Care

Lakeside Village is calling all shoppers and local residents to paint the town yellow this spring with a charity Daffodil Walk to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care on Sunday 27 March from 12pm – 2pm.

Starting from Lakeside Village Outlet Shopping near the M&S Outlet, shoppers and local residents of any age or fitness level are invited to take a springtime stroll around the lake, to not only enjoy the plethora of daffodils breaking through for spring but also to raise valuable fund for this deserving charity. Pushchairs and wheelchairs are welcome.

Planted in memory of loved ones lost in and around Doncaster, the daffodils around the lake are sure to be enjoyed by all. Any donations will be accepted on the day.

Commenting on the fundraising, Cheryl Sadler, Centre Manager said: “I am extremely proud that Lakeside Village is involved in such an important fundraising campaign and I’d like to thank the shoppers for all their support so far. This is a great way to help change a life, so why not take a small slice of your Sunday and make a difference for cancer patients in and around the Doncaster area?”

Local Marie Curie Cancer Care fundraiser Katie Grinter said: “Every donation for a daffodil will help us to provide more free nursing care hours, allowing people to die in the comfort of their own home surrounded by family and friends. So please make a donation, wear a daffodil, and help Marie Curie Cancer Care paint Doncaster yellow this March.’’

Lakeside Village will also be hosting its monthly clothing amnesty this month on behalf of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. On Saturday 26 March, shoppers can drop off their unwanted goods at the Bluebell Wood collection van, which will be located near the M&S Outlet store between 10am and 3pm.

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice provides support to children around the region with life limiting conditions. It costs £2.5 million annually to offer this support and Lakeside Village hopes that the 2011 ‘Bag-it up for Bluebell Wood’ will raise over £10,000 towards this worthy cause.
