The Plymouth Brethren had a meeting room in Wellgate which opened in 1885.
The Temperance Hall formerly a chapel, was rebuilt in 1896.
Wellgate Primitive Methodist Chapel was built in 1893, together with Sunday Schools, at a cost of £4000.
