Parkgate

Newbiggin or Parkgate was in the township of Rawmarsh and Greasborough

William Oxley was a steel manufacturer from about 1820's

Parkgate & Rawmarsh Station opened in 1840, and closed in 1968. Parkgate & Aldwarke Station opened in 1871 and closed in 1951.

On 30th May, 1847, Suzannah Jaggers was murdered by Samuel Linley, while on her way to Parkgate.

Seven men were killed in an explosion in January, 1875 at Aldwarke Main Colliery

On November 19th 1926, 9 passengers were killed in a Train crash at Parkgate.

In 1959 a R.A.F. Vampire jet aircraft crashed at Parkgate killing the pilot.
