The family outlines were provided by Janette, the great great granddaughter of Sammy Oldfield; Janette lives in Ohio.

Janette's grandfather was Clifford Gunby Coy, son of Frank Coy and Lucie Oldfield.

Janette tells us:

I remember my sweet grandfather fondly and distinctly through our extended visits and through the exchange of letters (and chocolates!) that we had over the years. I have gained stories of Lucie and Frank through contact made with third and fourth cousins whose friendships were initiated through genealogy research. It is only through reading Reminiscences of Rotherham that I have come to know more about Sammy Oldfield than simply his name. Following that clue generously provided, my cousins in England and I have traced that family branch in old directories, census records, and such, and the picture has unfolded.

Your picture of Sammy Oldfield is the one and only photo I have of any direct ancestor beyond my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
