Death of Joseph Frith
17th January, 1803Last week, Mr. Joseph Frith, a Quaker, at Sheffield, while in the steam-grinding mill, of which he was a partner, was attacked by a dizziness in his head, which occasioned his falling amongst the wheels, and he was hurled twice round before the works could be stopped; when disengaged he was still alive, though his back was broken and mangled in the most shocking manner.
When the works were first erected, Mr. Frith ordered a partition to be made to prevent accidents at the very place he received his death, which, a few weeks previous, he ordered to be removed.
