10th February, 1900Competition from Sale of Freehold Property in Rotherham
Seven lots of freehold property at Catcliffe, near Rotherham were offered for sale in February, 1900. There was considerable competition.
Rose Cottage and Rother Villa, the latter producing £26 a year, two dwelling houses yielding £21 13s.4d. a year, outbuildings, and buildings formerly used as glass works, were bought by Mr. E. Isle Hubbard of Rotherham, for £1520. Eight cottages producing £52 8s.3d. were knocked down to Mr. Pepper of Herringthorpe for £410.
Six dwelling houses, two of which are used as grocers shop and Post Office, also stabling etc., were disposed of to Mr. Hubbard for £1115.
3616 yards of building land near the new railway station fell to Mr. Potts of Catcliffe for £310, and the same gentleman became the owner of over an acre of grassland for £155.
Two closes of grassland containing over 9 acres were bought by Mr. Moody of Treeton for £460, and a close of grass having an area of 2 acres was acquired by Mr. W. F. Smith of Catcliffe for £170.
