Thomas Bright of Graystones, Sheffield
Thomas Bright of Graystones was born just before the Civil Wars. He was twice married:
- Barbara Froggatt, daughter of Godfrey Froggat of Middle-Mathfield, Staffordshire, gentleman and wife Elizabeth, daughter of James Bullock of Greenhill, Norton, Sheffield, gentleman. Elizabeth died in 1675.
- He married Elizabeth Bright in September, 1675.
Children by his first wife, Barbara:
- John married Elizabeth Ashton in 1681
- Thomas
Children ( all living in 1696) by his second wife Elizabeth:
- Thomas Bright (1683-1737)
- Robert Bright
- Barbara Bright
Thomas(1) was of Graystones, he married Mary Webster, they had many children of whom Thomas was father of Paul Bright, late of Inkersall, Staveley, gentleman; Paul had seven sons and three daughters,most of whom were alive in the 1820s, including Paul Bright of Inkersall who married in 1810 to Sarah, daughter of James Taylor of Treeton Mill.
A younger son of Thomas and Mary - John Bright married Susanna, daughter of Westby Hatfield of Sheffield, a merchant and fourth and youngest son of John Hatfield of Hatfield, had a son John-Hatfield Bright of Sheffield.
Joseph Bright, Esq., the third son of Thomas(1), succeeded his father in the estate at Graystones. He was a Commissioner of the Peace and married Elizabeth, daughter of John Bright(1658-1734) of Banner Cross

- Mary married to John Nodder of Sheffield, gentleman.
(Notes re John Nodder:A John Nodder was the grandson of John Booth of Handsworth)
It is recorded that the representative of this part of the family was Rev. James Bright of Grafton Regis, Northamptonshire.
Re; James Bright, the youngest of the four sons of Thomas(1), the estate at Brincliffe Edge was settled by his fathers will, and there he resided until his death in 1727. James married Judith a daughter of Alexander Fenton of Gleadless and his wife Elizabeth.
James and Judith Bright had one son Thomas Bright of Hawley Croft, Sheffield, gentleman and father to Mr. Thomas Fenton Bright.
Notes:
1. John Bright of Brincliffe Edge married Elizabeth Revell, daughter of Rowland Revill of Coal Aston on 17 Jan 1613 at Dronfield. They had a daughter, Ellen, who married John Brooke of Pond, Silkstone, Barnsley, a yeoman.
2. Elizabeth Revell, daughter of Thomas Revell, yeoman, of Heeley married Richard Crawshaw, the younger.
Pre-nuptial settlement: 28 Apr 1632. Richard Crawshawe, the elder, yeoman, of Uslethwayt (par. Worsbrough) to Edward Armitage of Kersforth-hill (par. Barnsley) and John Bright, yeoman, of Brendcliff Edge, Sheffield. Messuage, cottage, Botham Inge, Little Johan Roide, etc. in Dodworth. To be held to stated uses in consideration of the marriage of Richard Crawshaw, the younger, and Elizabeth Revell, daughter of Thomas Revell, yeoman, of Heeley, deceased.
