Giant Dragonflies Loose at RSPB Old Moor!

Join the RSPB for its first carnival procession to celebrate the wonders of summer on 2 August at RSPB Old Moor in Wombwell, Barnsley.
Visitors can come and discover the wonderful creatures that lurk just beneath the surface of a pond or at the water’s edge. Colourful Dragonflies and wildflowers provide the perfect inspiration to create your own unique carnival creature to join the summer procession
Julia Makin, RSPB visitor officer says: “Everyone is welcome to this event, it doesn’t matter how much or how little you know about wildlife. It’s about the shapes, textures and colours that we can all find in nature.”
Search the wildlife ponds and picnics area for inspiration on Saturday, 2 August from 11 am, and then join others on our garden lawn to turn your ideas into a big, bright and beautiful reality, from willow and other materials. Then, at 2.30 pm, show off your willow wonders in a procession around the nature reserve.
Julia added: “Visitors are welcome anytime to Old Moor. At this time of year there is so much to see; darting dragonflies and swifts taking over the air and wildflower meadows in full bloom. The reserve makes a fantastic day out for the whole family.”
No need to book, this event is free and open to all. Call 01226 273837 for more details.
